So far...Awesome
by Hockey Guy on Friday, October 27, 2017
I was worried about buying the first model year and I bought it the first week it was out, so I have 3,000 miles on it already. I have the Red Line package which I love, but it was expensive. So far, love the Traverse and could not be happier. I am coming from a Nissan Pathfinder and also looked at the Pilot. Pros: It is huge. Tons of interior room, super comfortable, lots of room behind 3rd row, nice hidden storage. The camera and safety package (on higher end version) are great. 360 camera and mirror camera are great. Infotainment is super easy to use. Drives great, smooth, maybe a touch under powered, but no different than the pilot. Cons I hate the auto start stop. I think the Pilot you can turn it off, have not figured out if you can turn it off on Traverse. To be fair, it is not unsafe or failed, i just dont like it. Not enough cup holders in front. Hard to see out back window. It is big, so living in the city, it is a bit challenging. No spare tire...(Is that a thing anymore?) Highly recommend! - 5.0
Not my first choice until I bought one
by Sharky1776 on Friday, July 16, 2021
Let me start by saying we really should have bought a van but I didn't want to be a van person. The Traverse was the compromise because I couldn't justify a big Tahoe or Expedition and the Traverse seemed the roomiest that we looked at in the smaller size. It has been a great choice for us, Highway trips with mileage in the high 20's. Small enough to get in and out of traffic and we have even towed a small camper and it pulls it like a champ although you can tell it's back there when the road gets hilly it never seems to struggle. I thought the compartment in the back would be wasted space but we have it full of gear for the kids and it keeps them out of the way. Overall this has been one of the least exciting but most practical vehicles I have ever purchased and we would definitely buy one again. - 5.0
Very reliable, perfect family long hauler
by Family of 7 on Tuesday, November 09, 2021
We lost our much-loved 2013 Chevrolet Traverse to a head-on with a drunk driver (his speed 60+mph, ours 45mph). My wife, myself, and our three littlest children (youngest was 6 months at the time), all walked away without a broken bone. Our second similar vehicle, a Buick Enclave, proved to be just as safe as the Traverse when we got rear-ended by a moving truck at 60mph on an LA freeway. Without hesitation, we got a new Traverse with this new one proving to be everything we liked about our original one with the benefit of better gas mileage (easily gets 30 mpg) and handling. Now at 81,000 trouble-free miles, we could not be happier with our decision. Our full list of maintenance & repairs include: 1. Oil changes 2. New tires 3. Transmission fluid change 4. 1 headlight bulb No tune-up (due at 100k), no brake pad replacements, or repairs. Considering the vehicle is driven on I-405 during rush hour traffic every weekday, hauls around 5 kids, has had multiple long haul road trips, and is often being treated like a sports car when entering the highway, we could not be happier. Unless someone hits this one, we hope to keep it until they make a fully electric version.
